If you are more of a single player gamer like me, don’t let the online nature of Fallout 76 put you off… it’s eminently playable as a single player experience. If you are put off by the issues mentioned at the start then maybe steer clear (or at least wait to see if patches address your concerns), otherwise I’d say grab the Deathclaw by the horns and jump in (but maybe wait till you have powerarmour to do that.).

Regardless of how Fallout 76 transforms and mutates in the months to come, the present version is a brave, imaginative, and rewarding exploration, but its true glory is revealed among friends.

In an effort to do everything, Fallout 76 fails to do any of it well enough to form an identity. Its multiplayer mindset robs its quests of all the moral decisionmaking that makes the series great, and all that’s left is a buggy mess of systemic designs that never seems to work together and regularly contradicts itself.

Fallout 76 meant to change the very concept of the series, but turned out to be a complete disaster. The game is not only boring and empty, but sometimes simply unplayable.

Fallout 76 could have been appealing. With its massive open-world, rewarding exploration and some interesting quests, it fails to be a good game because of too many game-design mistakes and technical issues.

I dreaded every hour I had to keep playing Fallout 76 for review. As soon as the game was beginning to teeter on fun or interesting, a bug or a frustrating gameplay design element would quickly remind me that the game was otherwise.

Here's my opinion, having bought the game with no prior expectations and after enjoying the beta thoroughly:

I've put in about 15 hours now, and I can safely say that this game is fun. It feels like Fallout, but is not the same experience. Why on earth you would expect the exact same experience from a multiplayer game is beyond me. The people I met have been great as well, the multiplayer blends really nicely into the single-player feel. Nobody's rushing to claim the best drops or grind to the highest levels just to be better than everyone else. The game plays at a comfortable pace just like a single-player game, except now you can enjoy it with friends if you want.

The game performance is good, considering I'm running on a GTX 750Ti. VATS feels good, albeit very different, and does wonders for those who can't achieve a fluid experience due to lower end PCs. The only issues I ran into were a couple minor disconnects, which I'm sure can be blamed on launch day overload. I can't speak for the graphics, but given my setup, it looks nice enough not to hinder my experience.

I actually really like the lack of human NPCs. With all the quests being through holotapes and robots, I can focus on what I actually enjoy, shooting and exploring, without missing out on the stories.

The base-building is way more enjoyable than Fallout 4 for me because it not only feels more valuable, but I get to share what I build with my friends. I played all the way through Fallout 4 without bothering with the settlement system (for the most part) because it felt like it didn't quite fit with the game. Bases in Fallout 76 fit well and feel important.

There is so much to do, and I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface after 15 hours. Whoever says this game doesn't have content is lying through their teeth. The map is huge and packed with quests and interesting locations. Regular event quests encourage interaction with other players and keep things fresh even in locations you've already combed over.

At no point have I felt pressured to make any micro-transactions. I'm earning the premium currency at a decent rate as well, and expect to be able to buy whichever thing I want from the shop by the end of the week. It feels extra, like it should. Not like they took something essential out of the game just to make a shop.

If you liked the gameplay of Fallout 4 and would enjoy that experience with friends, you'll also enjoy this game. It's not perfect, but don't let the emotional "It's not New Vegas/Rust" reviews ruin the opportunity you have to enjoy a unique and well-made game.

Sick of the review bombs for what is actually an OK game. You were told by Bethesda that they were trying something new, wouldn't be Fallout5,Sick of the review bombs for what is actually an OK game. You were told by Bethesda that they were trying something new, wouldn't be Fallout5, was to be a online MMO, and you are all so surprised? Don't like the new flavour fine, but it's not worth spending 5 mins of your life to register to give it a zero. Expand

The graphics are the exact same as the old 2015 Fallout 4 outdated graphics, with a slightly change on saturation and color. The storytelling,The graphics are the exact same as the old 2015 Fallout 4 outdated graphics, with a slightly change on saturation and color. The storytelling, oh my, the quests are awful and empty, "go there and grab that", it's like playing a poorly made 2007 RPG. The engine it's a horrible 2007 super-outdated system, witch sometimes can't even render 20 meters in distance. Overall, a terrible piece of work, a broken mess with uncoutable bugs. Please, bethesda, bring back Obsidian Entertainment and make a Fallout new vegas 2, it's all we ask for! Expand
